About Rykasc Dco — JIDA and CIDB G6 Registered Design & Build Firm
In short
Rykasc Dco is a Johor-based architecture, interior design and build firm founded in 2013 by a design architect who previously practised in Singapore. The firm is JIDA registered, holds CIDB G6 contractor registration, and runs design, construction and bespoke carpentry through three in-house companies.
A design practice with an engineer’s temperament.
Rykasc Dco was founded in 2013 by a design architect who had spent his career practising in Singapore, working on high-end bungalows including Jervois Hill alongside contemporary residential, institutional and commercial buildings. He came back to Johor with a specific view of what was missing in the market.
What was missing was not talent. It was accountability. Johor had capable designers and capable builders, but they worked for different companies, and the space between them was where projects lost time, money and goodwill. The firm was built to close that gap rather than to compete inside it.
The founding team is unusual for an interior design practice. Two of the three founders are engineers by training — one a former structural design engineer manager, the other a former director of a structural specialist company with viaduct and treatment-plant experience. That is why conversations here start with what the building will allow, not with what the mood board wants.
Registered, graded and checkable.
Anyone can describe themselves as an interior designer in Malaysia. Registration is what separates a practice from a person with a portfolio, and all three of ours can be verified independently — we would encourage you to do exactly that before appointing anyone, including us.
JIDA
Johor Interior Designers Association
JIDA is the Johor Interior Designers Association, the state professional body that registers and recognises interior design practices operating in Johor.
CIDB G6
Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia

MIID
Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers
MIID is the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers, the national professional institute for interior designers in Malaysia.
Three companies under one roof
The structure below is the commercial difference. Most firms describing themselves as design and build subcontract the construction, the carpentry, or both. We own all three, which is why there is nobody to pass blame to.

Five things we take responsibility for.
01
We save your time
One point of coordination across design, construction and joinery. You are not the person chasing three companies to agree with each other.
02
We reduce your risk
Buildability is resolved at drawing stage by people who will have to build it. Fewer surprises appear after the contract is signed.
03
We ease the decisions
You will face hundreds of choices. We narrow them to the ones that matter, explain the consequences, and give you a recommendation rather than a catalogue.
04
We make it enjoyable
A renovation is disruptive by nature. Our job is to keep your involvement meaningful rather than exhausting.
05
We stand behind the work
Workmanship, suppliers and accessories are vetted before they reach your property, and we return to fix defects within the defect liability period.
How we think about design
Our service philosophy is straightforward: good design and good workmanship recognise good clients. They do not judge financial or social standing. If you care about the result and bring patience to the process, you will get the best of what this firm can do.
Flexibility, contemporaneity and restraint are the values the studio works to. Construction is the process of realising a design; the design itself is where the value is created. We are interested in solutions that serve the people using the space, the space itself, and the way both will change over time.
Common questions
- How do I verify that a firm is JIDA registered or CIDB graded?
- Both are checkable. JIDA maintains a register of member practices, and CIDB Malaysia publishes a contractor register searchable by company name and grade. Ask any firm for their registration details and confirm them yourself before appointing.
- Does Rykasc Dco work outside Johor?
- Primarily we work across Johor — Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Nusajaya, Skudai, Kulai and Kluang. We have also delivered corporate work outside the state, including the Konica Minolta national headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
- Do you work with clients based in Singapore?
- Yes, and regularly. The founder practised in Singapore before establishing the firm, and a significant share of our residential clients own Johor property while living across the Causeway. Remote supervision and reporting are part of how we run those projects.
- Can you handle both the design and the construction?
- Yes. That is the reason the firm is structured the way it is. Design, construction and bespoke carpentry sit in three companies under common ownership, and can be commissioned together under a single contract or separately.
